Growth Opportunity
The challenge was not just designing a single product, but ensuring consistency across multiple interconnected devices in a highly technical, regulated space. I needed to:
- Rapidly learn the domain and its compliance requirements.
- Contribute to user research and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Support development teams struggling under time constraints by getting hands-on with front-end code.
- Improve design and communication processes to reduce friction across design, development, and client teams.
- Reorganize and scale the global design system to ensure sustainability across multiple products.
Scaling the Design System
I worked closely with my co-designer and lead to refine our workflow. Together, we clarified communication with clients and enabled more agile iterations. This allowed us to move faster without sacrificing design quality.
I partnered with the existing designer to run qualitative usability testing and synthesize insights. Despite entering late in the project cycle, I quickly built domain knowledge and identified key usability gaps. I translated findings into clear recommendations, helping stakeholders see how the product could better serve user needs.
When the development team faced delivery pressure, my co-designer and I jumped in to build UI components and refine styling directly in code. This preserved design fidelity, reduced rework, and gave me a deeper understanding of implementation trade-offs.
To support multiple products, we reorganized the global design system in Figma. My contributions included:
- Auditing and streamlining components and documentation.
- Defining interaction and motion standards.
- Optimizing developer handoff and client-facing documentation.
- Embedding design logic into development workflows through collaboration with cross-functional teams.

This project reinforced that great design work is as much about collaboration and systems thinking as it is about screens. By stepping into a proactive yet supportive role, I helped deliver quality outcomes in a high-stakes environment while maturing into a more strategic, systems-focused designer.
