Growth Opportunity

The  domain was intense and technically complex, requiring careful attention to workflow clarity and compliance. With multiple stakeholders—from engineers to executives—there was a risk of misalignment between feasibility, usability, and business value.

Key challenges included:
  • Improving information architecture in a mature system to reduce cognitive load and visual noise.
  • Aligning AI feature development with user needs and technical feasibility.
  • Simplifying high-stakes workflows where accuracy and clarity were critical.
  • Creating visualizations that could bridge understanding between technical and non-technical audiences.

Designing an Alpha Data Visualization Tool

To support alignment across functions, I produced domain-specific visualizations, system diagrams, and improved information architecture. One whiteboard diagram I created was later adopted globally for internal training, simplifying technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Partnering with the UX director, I helped establish and document design best practices specific to maintenance work. This improved consistency, sped up decision-making, and ensured that design impact remained visible even in a mature product phase.

I facilitated cross-functional workshops with engineering, product, and stakeholders to identify valuable AI features. These sessions balanced feasibility with user value, providing a clear direction for iterative design cycles.

I designed and iterated an alpha tool that replaced manual Python workflows with an intuitive UI. This bridged design and implementation, streamlining user workflows and reducing reliance on custom scripting.

Simplifying Complex Workflows Through Visualization

Personal Reflection

Joining a mature, high-stakes project taught me how to quickly assess systems, identify meaningful opportunities, and earn trust through action. I learned that leadership often comes not from title, but from initiative, clear communication, and practical solutions that support both users and teams.

Results

  • Design best practices established for maintenance-phase projects, supporting ongoing clarity and alignment.
  • AI feature discovery workshops aligned engineering feasibility with real user needs.
  • Domain-specific visualizations simplified complex workflows, with one adopted for global training.
  • Alpha data visualization tool replaced manual workflows with an intuitive UI, improving efficiency.
  • Reduced visual complexity improved usability and workflow clarity for end-users.
